ZXR10 2900 Series L2 Gigabit Intelligent Ethernet Switch

The ZXR10 2900 series are L2 intelligent Ethernet access switches with excellent performance and diversified functions developed by ZTE CORPORATION. They provide low- and medium-density LAN ports for branches of small- and medium-sized enterprises to build up their enterprise networks. They are designed to meet diversified customer demands for networking and applications. A rich set of ports and utility functions are available to telecom operators to provision broadband IP access services. With all these functions and features, the ZXR10 2900 series have become a standard new-generation device to provide cost-effective broadband IP access.

Product Positioning

  • Access layer of broadband IP MANs and enterprise networks
  • Aggregation/access devices for large enterprises, residential areas, hotel, and college campus networks with different combinations of optical and electrical interfaces

Features and Specifications

  • Cost-effective and compact structure
ZXR10 2900 series support a variety of access scenarios such as office buildings in an enterprise network or MAN, residential complex convergence and access points. Designed with a compact structure
  • Full wire speed layer 2 forwarding
The full wire speed layer 2 forwarding capability provides 100% throughput, zero packet drop ratio and low delay to provide high performance user accesses.
  • Powerful security performance
ZXR10 2900 series supports powerful hardware ACL function based on flow,L2,L3 AND mixed ACL, it also support different service and restrict traffic for P2P/video flow ,support virus filtering ,CPU protecting, DDOS avoidance.
  • High QoS broadband user accesses
The system supports flow control in both half duplex and full duplex modes. In the half duplex mode, the system adopts the back-pressure flow control; in the full duplex mode, the system supports 802.3x flow control. With the filtering function, the system can automatically detect invalid frames (oversized frame, undersized frame, or CRC error frame) and discard them. The system divides ports into four priority levels based on service types to provide high QoS broadband user accesses.
  • Interfaces
ZXR10 2900 series switches provide low- and medium-density LAN ports

Architecture and Key Components

The ZXR10 2900 series switches are designed with leading ASIC hardware forwarding technologies, where all forwarding functions are performed by hardware, thus ensuring wire-speed forwarding capability of the ports. The ASIC can perform L2 switching, and L2-L4 traffic filtering at wire speed.

The software system of the ZXR10 2900 series uses ESROS platform software as its core. This platform software provides a great variety of protocol stacks required for L2, and L3, and provides unified interfaces to its lower layers.

The drivers of the ASIC are used to connect the ESROS and the actual ASIC execution entities.

The NM and Operation & Maintenance module provide user management interface for the switch. This module allows users to manage and operate with the switch through a wide variety of means such as 232 interface, Telnet, SSH, SNMP, and WEB etc.

ZXR10 2900 series has been deployed in commercial networks for years.
